The RETLAMI-SEE project invites early-career researchers, doctoral candidates and postdoctoral fellows in the social sciences and humanities to apply for the summer school “Labour Regimes on the Fringes of Europe”, to be held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, from 15 to 19 June 2026.

The summer school will explore transnational labour regimes and the ways in which they shape workers’ rights, opportunities and everyday work experiences in the countries of South-Eastern Europe and beyond. These topics will be addressed from a variety of disciplinary perspectives, including historiography, sociology, social anthropology and related fields.

The organizers of the summer school are the Institute for Culture and Memory Studies of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (IKSŠ ZRC SAZU), in cooperation with the Research Center for the History of Transformations of the University of Vienna (RECET UNIVIE), the Faculty of Political Science University of Banja Luka (FPN UNIBL) and the Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies (IOS) in Regensburg, within the project “Enhancing Capacities for Quality and Impactful Research on Transformations, Labour and Migration in Southeast-Europe” (RETLAMI-SEE) funded by the European Commission.
