In parallel with the research team’s study visit, RETLAMI-SEE project’s RMA (Research Management and Administration) staff from the University of Banja Luka also participated in a training and exchange programme hosted by the University of Vienna, from 7 to 10 April 2025.

The visit was designed to enhance institutional collaboration and strengthen the administrative capacities of RETLAMI-SEE partners in the areas of research project management, financial coordination, and support mechanisms for researchers.

Over several days, representatives of the RMA team from UNIBL—Milica Marić and Tamara Nježić —held intensive meetings and working sessions with Borna Doračić, project administrator at the University of Vienna.

Key sessions included:

  • An overview of the organizational structure and services provided by the Research Services department at UNIVIE, with emphasis on support for third-party funded projects;
  • A detailed presentation on the entire project lifecycle—from proposal preparation, through legal and financial procedures, to implementation and reporting;
  • A discussion on institutional challenges and best practices in project cycle management, including the identification of structural gaps and opportunities for improvement.

The exchange created space for open dialogue on how administrative staff can play a more strategic role in supporting interdisciplinary and international research initiatives like RETLAMI-SEE. It also provided inspiration for enhancing internal administrative procedures at UNIBL and increasing their alignment with European research support standards.

This visit contributes directly to RETLAMI-SEE’s broader goal of capacity building at both the individual and institutional level, ensuring the sustainability of research excellence at the University of Banja Luka.
